It's Arboreal Salamander season!

While our garden is flush with California Slender Salamanders, the Arboreal Salamander (Aneides lugubris) is a much rarer find.

Here's a juvenile that Ada and I found today. This is as close as I can get with the 14-45mm lens on my digital SLR. The Arboreal gets much bigger than the California Slender Salamander.  I've found them up to five or so inches long.  The adults in our yard have what seem like unusually large spots.
